Responding to customer requests, Radical Motorsport needed to find a supplier who could produce a visual carbon finish for their RXC high performance track day and race car. AMEL were able to meet Radical’s requirement and produce the components demanded. AMEL’s many years of experience using our advanced techniques required for the complex shapes and structures used in the aviation markets, has given us the skill set needed to achieve the necessary consistent finish. As well as the structural aspects of the components, the aesthetics of the finish were crucial for this application. Despite the bar being set very high, AMEL were confident in our ability to satisfy Radical’s needs. Our track record in the Aviation, Marine and Automotive sectors gave us, and Radical, the confidence to work together and produce something rather special.

The RXC is the top-of-the-range Radical, with incredible torque and power and a very high desirability factor. Of course, to achieve this level of desirability meant that the finished product had to look the part, just being carbon wasn’t good enough.

Thanks to the complex aerodynamic shape of the RXC, the attention to detail when positioning the weave of the cloth is more akin to a work of art than an engineering exercise. AMEL literally had to deliver a fine, handcrafted suit giving shape, style and form to a top-level athlete. Whilst the function may dictate the form, that doesn’t mean that the end product cannot also be beautiful.
